Every photo on this wall belongs to a dog who's visited Good Hood. Their names are written underneath by hand. Dogs are welcome inside, so walk the beach, then bring them in to settle down while you have a coffee.

Our story

18 years in hospitality, from restaurants and SkyCity to owning Little King in Milford. Good Hood is the only café Fang owns now, and she chose Castor Bay for its people.

Almost three years in, the regulars have found it: tucked down out of the wind, a short walk from the beach. Weekdays it's mostly locals. Weekends, they bring the family.

Ask Fang what to order and she'll point you to her signature dishes: the Avo Smash, the Sweetcorn Fritters, the King Prawn Udon and the Bang Bang Chicken Salad.

Built for staying a while.
